Warrier, was a civil servant and his mother, P. N. Omana, was a homemaker. Warrier attended St. Joseph’s College, Palakkad before studying law at the University of Kerala. He started his career as an assistant stage manager with the Malayalam theatre company Sakthi Nataka Mandali and later joined the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) as an assistant director.
Warrier’s first role was in the 1982 Tamil language film “Nalla Thangal” starring Kamal Haasan and Sarath Kumar. He made his debut in Malayalam cinema with the 1983 film “Udhayanin Uruvela”. His breakthrough role came with the 1985 film “Katha Paraya”, which won him acclaim for his performance as an alcoholic artiste struggling to overcome his addiction. He went on to appear in several successful films including “Pattanam”, “Thandavam”, “Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha” and “Vishwaroopam”.
